Foot Care
Ulcer prevention is very critical to reduce further disability, enabling the villagers the ability to care for themselves. By properly fitting the victims with shoes, ulcers and abrasions are eliminated, and so too is the need for going barefoot.
Embrace a Village employs two staff members, including a professional shoemaker, who travel around the state of Tamil Nadu accessing footwear needs, sizing each foot, and manufacturing the ideal shoe fitted to each patients’ feet. He also provides foot care awareness and education to prevent further ulcers from arising. Ulcer prevention is the front line defense to train for self care and prevention of amputation, which is very common in the colonies.
