Sabari, a bright-eyed nine-year-old in the 4th standard, lives with his parents and grandparents in a small village in Tamil Nadu. His grandparents, both leprosy survivors, bear the physical scars of the disease, and the social stigma still lingers in their lives. Despite these challenges, Sabari is a child filled with dreams. He loves school and is always eager to learn, dreaming of one day becoming a teacher.
For Sabari, the Little Lights after-school program has been a place of refuge and hope. While other children run home to play, Sabari heads to the Embrace a Village center, where he finds more than just academic help. He learns English, plays games, and even discovers a love for painting. But most importantly, he’s surrounded by kindness, love, and acceptance – things that his family often misses out on.
Children like Sabari feel the impact of your prayers and support every day. Because of you, he now has the opportunity to break free from the cycle of poverty and discrimination and pursue his dream of becoming a teacher.
