In 2004, Embrace a Village began its mission in Deviyakurichi, nestled in the rolling hills of Salem district in Tamil Nadu. This community, a leprosy colony, became a refuge for those cast out by society—individuals like Lukas, who found himself isolated and rejected because of his illness.
Lukas and his wife sought shelter within the colony’s boundaries, but what they found went far beyond a place to live. Through the compassionate outreach of Embrace a Village, Lukas received more than physical care. He found hope, community, and a love that transformed his life.

Amid ongoing prayer and regular Bible studies, Lukas discovered a love that transcended his suffering—a love he encountered through the teachings of Jesus. In his quiet moments of reflection, he found comfort and purpose in words that spoke directly to his heart.
Lukas often says, “I wouldn’t have known the love of Jesus if I was not a leprosy victim.” Through his journey, he learned to see his affliction not as a curse, but as a pathway to experiencing God’s boundless love in a way he never imagined. Today, he shares his story with others in the colony, spreading a message of hope and redemption to those who need it most.
Lukas and his wife are deeply grateful for the continued work of Embrace a Village in Tamil Nadu. Their gratitude is a testament to the impact your support has on the lives of those suffering from leprosy.
